February 2024 Update

Chicken Soup for the Soul now offers logos for writers who have been published by them, so you’ll see mine displayed to the left. I’ve been fortunate to have my work included in six Chicken Soup for the South anthologies, with the bulk of that being in various books related to dogs. This is thanks to my quirky border collie Sneeks, who provided plenty of material to work with!

January 2024 was a reasonably productive month from a writing viewpoint. I give some of the credit to one of the books I recently reviewed for The Miramichi Reader. The book is titled The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8 AM), by Hal Elrod. The Miracle Morning is an updated version of a book first published in 2012, but that was okay by me since I’d never seen the first version. I found that some of Elrod’s comments about goal-setting resonated with me: specifically, about what are you willing to commit to doing? Thinking that through has helped me focus my energy better, and I’m hoping to be able to sustain this through the year.

Another factor was a free workshop offered by Amber Petty, called the “Perfectionist’s Half-Assed Challenge.” I’ll confess to perfectionist tendencies, and the information from this workshop provided some food for thought to overcome the negative aspects of perfectionism.
